Relationship between Leadership Styles and Personality traits of Physical Education managers of Education in Khorasan Razavi

The aim of this study was to study the relationship between leadership styles and personality traits of Physical Education managers of Education in Khorasan Razavi. 55 administrative director of physical education of Khorasan Education were selected as the sample of this research. Three questionnaires were used in this research: A) A researcher made information Questionnaire, including age, experience, education level, B) Luthans leadership style questionnaire, and C) Eysenck personality inventory questionnaire. Data were analyzed by Pearson Coefficient Correlation and Chi-square test, using SPSS software at P≤0.05 level. The findings showed there was no relationship between leadership styles (Relationship- oriented and Task-oriented) and personality traits (Introverted, Stable and Unstable). There was a significant but opposite relationship between leadership styles (Relationship-oriented and task-oriented) with personality traits of extraversion. There was a significant relationship between leadership styles (Relationship-oriented and task-oriented) with Physical education managers (age, education degree, management experience). But, there was a negative relationship between Relationshiporiented leadership style with education level of physical education managers. Finally, it can be concluded that selection of leadership styles related to factors aside from personality traits such as colleagues, organizational structure and the function of leadership styles differ under different circumstances and the personality characteristics of physical education managers and this result is related with contingency theory of management which distinct any changes of circumstances with efficiency and effectiveness of any style.
